American Contemporary Music Ensemble Performs The Music Of Johann Johannsson As Part Of Le Poisson Rouge's 10th Season


On Sunday, June 10, 2018 at 9:30pm (doors 9pm), the American Contemporary Music Ensemble (ACME), will perform the music of the late Icelandic composer Johann Johannsson at Le Poisson Rouge (158 Bleecker St., NYC) as part of the venue's 10th anniversary celebration, LPR X. The concert will include selections from Johannsson's first concert in New York, which took place in 2009 at Le Poisson Rouge, with ACME. ACME artistic director Clarice Jensen will also perform bc for solo cello and tape loops, a piece that she co-composed with Johannsson last year, which is included on her 2018 debut solo album For this from that will be filled (Miasmah).

Syfy has renewed its critically acclaimed drama series 12 MONKEYS for a 10-episode Season 3 order, with new episodes expected to air in 2017. From Universal Cable Productions, 12 MONKEYS is co-created by Terry Matalas and Travis Fickett (“Nikita”) and is based on the 1995 Oscar® nominated and Golden Globe-winning  film of the same name. Matalas serves as the showrunner and executive producer. Charles Roven (The Dark Knight trilogy, “Suicide Squad”) who produced the original film, and Richard Suckle (“Suicide Squad”, “American Hustle”) also serve as executive producers. Season 2 of the series currently airs on Monday nights at 9/8 c on Syfy.

The program features music by ACME members Timo Andres (solo piano piece TBA), Caleb Burhans (Jahrzeit for string quartet), and Pulitzer Prize winner Caroline Shaw (Gustave Le Grey), as well as Meredith Monk's rarely performed string quartet Stringsongs and Charles Ives' Piano Trio, Op. 86. The group will also present the world premiere of 5×5, a suite of five movements commissioned by Five Boroughs Music Festival, featuring musical contributions by each of the five composer-performers on the program - Shaw, Andres, and Burhans plus violinist Ben Russell and cellist/ACME artistic director Clarice Jensen. ACME players for this concert are Caroline Shaw and Ben Russell, violins; Caleb Burhans and Caitlin Lynch, violas; Clarice Jensen, cello; and Timo Andres, piano.
