The Public Theater just presented a special 40th anniversary tribute to A CHORUS LINE last night, April 16 in honor of the first performance of this legendary musical that premiered in The Public's Newman Theater 40 years ago and went on to make musical theater history. To commemorate this landmark event, the cast of the critically-acclaimed musical HAMILTON, currently playing on the same Newman stage, presented original cast members of A CHORUS LINE with a plaque that will hang in the Ford Foundation Lobby of The Public. At last night's performance, The Tonight Show's Jimmy Fallon and pop singer-turned-musical-composer Sara Bareilles attended the show and of course snapped selfies afterwards. In addition, Bareilles posted a video to her Instagram of Miranda recording Jimmy Fallon's voicemail message. Check out the pics and video below!

The world premiere musical HAMILTON,inspired by the book 'Alexander Hamilton' byRon Chernow, with book, music, and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda and directed by Thomas Kail, has been extended three times at The Public due to sold-out demand and will close as scheduled on Sunday, May 3 prior to a Broadway transfer to the Richard Rodgers Theatre beginning July 13 and opening August 6. As BroadwayWorld reported yesterday, Hamilton will be heading uptown next season! Lin-Manuel Miranda's newest musical, which opened to rave reviews last week, will arrive on Broadway this summer at the Richard Rodgers Theatre. Following last night's highly anticipated first preview of HAMILTON at the Public, TodayTix hosted the exclusive afterparty at the Public's Library Bar. The party included the cast and creatives for Hamilton as well as special first preview guests including Pitch Perfect's Skylar Astin, Laura Osnes, Benj Pasek and Barrett Weed, among others. The Public Theater's HAMILTON begins performances on Tuesday, January 20 and has been extended through March 22 with an official press opening on Tuesday, February 17. HAMILTON is now completely cast. The five final cast members are Jasmine Cephas Jones (Peggy Shuyler, Maria Reynolds); Andrew Chappelle (Swing); Alysha Deslorieux (Swing); Javier Muñoz (Hamilton Standby); and Okieriete Onaodowan (Hercules Mulligan, James Madison).
