Broadway rocker Justin Matthew Sargent, best known for his star turn as 'Drew' in Broadway's Rock of Ages, has landed the coveted role of Peter Parker / Spider-Man role in Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark. Sargent will play evening performances at the Foxwoods Theatre (213 West 42nd Street) beginning tonight, September 16. Reeve Carney, the original lead Peter Parker, played his final performance last night in order to begin shooting for the new Showtime series Penny Dreadful. This past weekend, SPIDER-MAN Turn Off The Dark hosted a special Mother's Day themed Everyday Hero, this time honoring Cathy Fritea, a mother who lost her first-born son. Out of her grief, she started the Angels Fund charity, which helps comfort grieving parents who have lost a child. Isabel Keating, who plays Aunt May, made a curtain call speech and invited Cathy on stage. Check out photos of Cathy with the cast below!

The master puppeteers, dancers, and musicians of Cambodia's premiere Shadow Puppet Troupe, Wat Bo-in New York City as part of the citywide Season of Cambodia festival-visited Broadway's SPIDER-MAN Turn Off the Darkthis weekend in between performances of their performances of Sor Neakabas (The Magical Arrowhead Dragon) at Brookfield Place, Winter Garden. In honor of the troupe's visit, the Cambodian Flag was waved by the company ofSPIDER-MAN Turn Off the Dark during curtain call, and members of the Shadow Puppet Troupe met with SPIDER-MAN star Reeve Carney backstage for an exclusive meet-and-greet.

He was awarded the Medal of Honor on February 11th, 2013 by President Barack Obama.
