Stage and screen star Brooke Shields will join THE ADDAMS FAMILY in the role of Morticia beginning Tuesday, June 28 at the Lunt Fontanne Theatre (205 West 46th Street). Two-time Tony Award winner Bebe Neuwirth will play her final performance in the role on Sunday, June 26. Ms. Shields will play opposite Roger Rees, who stars as Gomez.

The hit musical THE ADDAMS FAMILY, based on the bizarre and beloved family of characters created by legendary cartoonist Charles Addams, celebrated its 500th performance with a special cake-cutting with the cast: Tony Award winner Roger Rees as Gomez; two-time Tony Award winner Bebe Neuwirth as Morticia, Brad Oscar as Fester, Rachel Potter as Wednesday, Jackie Hoffman as Grandma, Zachary James as Lurch, Heidi Blickenstaff as Alice Beineke, Adam Grupper as Mal Beineke and Jesse Swenson as Lucas Beineke.

Grandma Addams, the feisty potient-brewing matriarch of the Addams clan (played by comic actress Jackie Hoffman), turned 116 on Wednesday, March 30 and to celebrate, the producers of THE ADDAMS FAMILY treated the star to a Sweet (One) Sixteen cake and free tickets to the matinee for 116 real grandmothers age 60 or older who were born in March. Bebe Neuwrith hosted the launch party for 'MORTICIA'S NAILS,' a brand-new limited edition set of three Morticia Addams-inspired nail polishes, created by Ms. Neuwirth and Essie Cosmetics yesterday, July 15. 100% of the profits from the sale of 'MORTICIA'S NAILS' will directly benefit The Actors Fund, the national nonprofit human services organization dedicated to helping all professionals in film, theater, television, music, opera and dance through programs that address their unique and essential needs. Last week on April 8, 2010, Actor's Equity's 2nd Vice President Rebecca Kim Jordan hosted the famed Gypsy Robe Ceremony for company members of THE ADDAMS FAMILY at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. A long-standing opening night tradition on the Great White Way, the fabled Gypsy Robe is bestowed upon a veteran Broadway chorus member for each opening production. In what has now become a theatrical ritual, originating on Broadway 60 years ago, COME FLY AWAY chorus member Kristine Bendul turned over the robe to ADDAMS FAMILY cast member Jim Borstelmann. BroadwayWorld was there for the celebration.
