The Salzburg Festival comes to Los Angeles for a screening of festival founder Max Reinhardt's 1935 film A Midsummer Night's Dream. Presented as part of the 2018 Los Angeles Jewish Film Festival, the program includes a pre-film panel discussion featuring Dr. Helga Rabl-Stadler, President of the Salzburg Festival. The discussion and screening will take place on Thursday, April 26 at the Landmark Regent in Los Angeles's Westwood neighborhood, beginning at 7:00 p.m.

A populist candidate, promising to return the country to greatness, becomes president of the United States, and then all hell breaks loose in It Can't Happen Here, a new play based on Sinclair Lewis' eerily prescient 1935 novel, adapted for the stage by Tony Taccone and Bennett S. Cohen. Foothill Theatre Arts presents It Can't Happen Here, directed by Bruce McLeod, for three weeks only, now through November 19, 2017 at the Lohman Theatre, on the Foothill College Campus (at the bottom of the hill), 12345 El Monte Road, Los Altos Hills. The Las Vegas Philharmonic performs its Copland in Mexico Cabrera Conducts Copland & Revueltas Concert today, November 4, 2017 at 7:30 PM in Reynolds Hall at The Smith Center for the Performing Arts. From 6:30 PM 7:30 PM, experience the sights and sounds of Mexico and the American Southwest with special guest entertainment, a painted violin art walk and a composer tour, which will introduce concert-goers to Mexican composers and their interpretations of the sounds of Mexico. The concert is funded in part by a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities and the Music Unwound Initiative.

Best known as the illustrator of the American classic Eloise, Hilary Knight cites the performing arts as the single greatest influence on his life and career. Now for the first time, Knight's life-long love of the theatrical is the subject of a comprehensive exhibition, which has been extended through October 14, 2017 at The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts at Lincoln Center. Hilary Knight's Stage-Struck World includes original artwork for posters, illustrations for Vanity Fair magazine (where Knight is a contributing editor), Knight's most recent work - three-dimensional portraits in stage-like settings - and costume and set designs for performances and revues that reveal that for Knight, all the world is indeed a stage.
