Spike Lee's OLDBOY Among Film Festival Acquistions

DarkHorizons.com has released a breakdown of key film acquistions that have taken place over the course of the Venice and Toronto Film Festivals. The breakdown is as follows:

Focus Features has acquired Derek Cianfrance's thriller 'The Place Beyond The Pines' starring Ryan Gosling, Bradley Cooper and Eva Mendes. Gosling plays a motorcycle who commits a crime to support his child, putting him in the line of sight of a ruthless cop (Cooper).

Olivier Assayas' coming-of-age drama "Something in the Air" has been sold to more than 20 territories with IFC Films taking the North American rights.

FilmDistrict have acquired North American distribution rights to Spike Lee's "Oldboy" remake starring Josh Brolin, Elizabeth Olsen, and Sharlto Copley. No potential release date has been given.

Outsource Media Group has acquired North American rights to the Mike Newell-directed "Great Expectations" starring Ralph Fiennes, Helena Bonham Carter, Jeremy Irvine, and Holliday Grainger. Outsource will now seek North American distribution partners to pair with its print and advertising fund.

Anchor Bay Films has acquired North American and UK rights to the Billy Bob Thornton-directed 60's family drama "Jayne Mansfield’s Car". Thornton stars with Robert Duvall, John Hurt, Kevin Bacon, Ray Stevenson, and Robert Patrick.

Strand Releasing has taken North American rights to Ulrich Seidl’s "Paradise" trilogy. Strand plans for a first quarter 2013 release of all three films.
