Deadline has reported that Martin Scorses staged a reading of the script for his upcoming mob movie, THE IRISHMAN. And the reading was packed with stars.

The film tells the story of mom hit man Frank Sheeran, played by Robert DeNiro. Those also set to star are Al Pacino and Joe Pesci. All three men were in attendance at the reading in NYC. The project, backed by Paramount Pictures, also welcomed a few potential investors, the site reports.

And though THE IRISHMAN won't be Scorsese's next film - he's currently wrapping up THE WOLF OF WALL STREET with Leonardo DiCaprio before he begins on SILENCE - the reading was staged in order to make sure the script was on the right track.

THE IRISHMAN is based upon Charles Brandt's I HEARD YOU PAINT HOUSES.
