Amanda Seyfried, Les Miserables
When LES MISÉRABLES celebrated its 21st London birthday on 8 October 2006, it became the World's Longest Running Musical, surpassing the record previously held by "Cats" in London's West End. In January 2010, the West End production broke another record by celebrating its historic 10,000th performance.
The musical's movie adaptation is currently filming in the UK; Amanda Seyfried as Cosette will join the film's stars - Hugh Jackman as Valjean, Russell Crowe as Javert, Sacha Baron Cohen as Thernardier, Eddie Redmayne as Marius, Aaron Tveit as Enjolras, Anne Hathaway as Fantine, Samantha Barks as Eponine and Helena Bonham Carter as Madame Thenardier - in New Orleans next month to continue filming.
"I was playing Cosette in recitals when I was 15, because I used to sing classical music," Seyfried tells The Telegraph. "Now I’m actually going to play her. It’s a dream for me."
Musical afficianados have seen Seyfried in another musical adapation - she played Sophie in 2008's MAMMA MIA - but can expect something different with Cosette, according to the 26-year-old star: "Getting back into singing has been tough, but awesome, too, because I haven’t lost what I had when I was 15; it’s only got better, so that’s a plus."
LES MISÉRABLES will hit movie theaters December 7, 2012. Read the Telegraph article here.
