Putting his own unique, youthful spin on golden age crooner styling, Mark performs a collection of classic tunes from Broadway and The Great American Songbook. With his glossy approach, he glides from Jerry Herman to Peter Allen to Henry Mancini‬ with charismatic ease and a spring in his step. Both critics and audiences alike are over the moon for Mark William. Theatre Pizzazz said “ Mark William is the epitome of panache, adding his own brand of pizazz. Whatever that 'it' is, he's got IT!” and Times Square Chronicles called him “ The newest star rising in the heavens of cabaret and musical theatre.” Tony-winning lyricist Lynn Ahrens calls him “Baby Sinatra” and John Lloyd Young, the original, Tony-winning Frankie Valli in Jersey Boys, says he is “Golden-Age Hollywood Reborn”. Mark was named one of the top ten cabaret acts of 2018 by both Theater Pizzazz and Times Square Chronicles, and rang in 2019 headlining New Years Eve at the famed ‪McKittrick Hotel‬. He will spend Fall 2019 at the Walnut Street Theatre playing Bertram Batram in Young Frankenstein, and has appeared around the world in such shows as My Fair Lady, Mary Poppins, Mame with Leslie Uggams, and Jerry's Girls with Susan Anton. Backed by a stellar five-piece band led by musical director Clint Edwards, Come Croon With Me is directed by Preston and Richard Ridge. This November, Mark returns to The Green Room 42, continuing his love affair with the Great American Songbook. Mark William: Feeling Good hypnotizes with a set of enduring classics filtered through Mark's youthful perspective and talent set. The show is distinctly new-age romantic, while still evocative of golden-age cinematic glamour. This performance will also celebrate the release of Mark's debut album, Mark William: Come Croon With Me. Closing out 2019, Mark will be playing luxury cruise engagements, featuring both of his shows.

On Monday, May 7th The League of Professional Theatre Women (Kelli Lynn Harrison & Lisa Rothe, Co-Presidents), an organization which has been leading the gender parity conversation and championing women in the professional theatre for over 35 years, presented the final Oral History event of their 2017-18 season with two-time Tony Award winner Chita Rivera in the Bruno Walter Auditorium at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts (111 Amsterdam Avenue at 65th Street). Ms. Rivera talked about her life and illustrious career with Broadway World's lead correspondent, Richard Ridge, host of Backstage with Richard Ridge. 

The legendary Broadway icon has just added another honor to her vast array. On Friday, May 4, Chita Rivera was awarded an honorary Doctor of Fine Arts Degree by the University of Florida, Gainesville, before thousands of graduating students and their families at the Class of 2018 Spring commencement. Rivera also presented a master class workshop to UF School of Theatre + Dance students and faculty following the graduation ceremony.

Walnut Street Theatre's 2017-18 Independence Studio on 3 Season concludes with Andrew Lloyd Webber's romantic musical TELL ME ON A SUNDAY. Directed by Debi Marcucci and starring The Phantom of the Opera's Julia Udine, the production begins with previews on April 10th, opens on April 12th, and continues through June 10th in the Walnut's Independence Studio on 3.

Walnut Street Theatre continues its landmark 209th season with Stephen Karam's Tony Award-winning play, THE HUMANS. Directed by Producing Artistic Director Bernard Havard, the play, which was the recipient of over 20 Best Play Awards in 2016, begins previews on January 16th, opens on January 24th, and runs through March 4th on the Walnut's Mainstage.

An Evening with Andrea McArdle is a brand new show (playing through October 14 at Feinstein's/54 Below) that celebrates The Great American Songbook, Broadway and contemporary music. With Andrea's soaring vocals, audiences will be taken on a musical journey that is filled with anecdotes about the legends she has worked with and the songs that became the soundtrack of America.

Walnut Street Theatre's 2017-2018 Independence Studio on 3 season opens with Broadway's tribute to a woman of song, SOUVENIR, A FANTASIA ON THE LIFE OF FLORENCE FOSTER JENKINS. The incomparable Tony Award winner recreated signature moments from her legendary career including numbers from Sweet Charity, Chicago, Kiss of the Spider Woman, Bye, Bye, Birdie, The Rink, The Visit, and from her electric performance as Anita in the original Broadway premiere of West Side Story which brought her the stardom she so richly deserves.

The cult musical comedy Little Shop of Horrors has commenced its Australian Tour. Starring Brent Hill and Esther Hannaford, the production premiered at Hayes Theatre Co in Sydney to rave reviews and will be followed by seasons in Adelaide, Melbourne, Canberra, Brisbane, Perth and a newly announced Sydney return season.

Broadway legend Chita Rivera made her Cafe Carlyle just last night with An Evening of My Favorite Songs, an engagement that was postponed earlier this year due to an injury. Now she's ready to take the stage for a two-week engagement, through April 30. BroadwayWorld brings you a look inside her first performance below!

The Off-Broadway premiere of Jerry Mayer's new comedy, 2 Across, began a open-ended engagement on November 14th at St. Luke's Theatre (308 West 46th Street, between 8th and 9th Avenues). Emmy Award nominee Evelyn Rudie ("Eloise") directs a cast that stars Andrea McArdle and Kip Gilman. Opening Night is set for Wednesday December 9th.

BROADWAY GYPSY TEA DANCE recently gathered at the rooftop bar Top of the Strand at the Strand Hotel (33 West 37th Street) to celebrate Chita Rivera's 2015 Tony Award nomination, enlisting dancers from most of Broadway's shows. Those represented included The King & I, Aladdin, Kinky Boots, Something Rotten, Wicked, American in Paris, The Lion King and gypsies who danced with Rivera in her last Broadway show A Dancer's Life.
