The Chicago Symphony Orchestra's July 4th performance as part of the Ravinia Festival will feature vocalist Ashley Brown, who won rave reviews in the title role of Mary Poppins on Broadway and recently made her Lyric Opera debut in an acclaimed production of Show Boat. The world's most magical musical arrives at The Civic, Auckland this October. Based on the beloved books by P.L. Travers and the 1964 Walt Disney film, the multi-award winning musical MARY POPPINS will play The Civic, Auckland for a strictly limited season.

According to the Daily Mail, Olivier-winner Laura Michelle Kelly-the original Mary Poppins-will star as Paula in a revival of Arthur Wing Pinero's The Second Mrs. Tanqueray at the Rose Theatre in Surrey for a month-long engagement, beginning Sep. 27. Stephen Unwin will direct.

Broadway Across Canada and producers Thomas Schumacher of Disney Theatrical Productions and Cameron Mackintosh announced today that tickets for the long-awaited production of MARY POPPINS go on sale to the public today, June 4 at 10 a.m. Calgary's most eagerly awaited stage production will begin performances at the Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditoriumon Tuesday, July 31 for a limited engagement of one week through Sunday, August 5. The opening night is Tuesday, July 31 at 8pm.

The touring production of MARY POPPINS that's currently gracing the stage of the Peabody Opera House is "practically perfect", featuring eye-popping special effects, a glorious set, and terrific performances that manage to capture the spirit of the 1964 Disney film, as well as the P.L. Travers books that inspired it. While some of the more beloved elements from the movie are noticeably absent, they've been replaced with sequences that are every bit as magical and engaging. Though the staging is a bit cramped, this is a spectacular show that appeals to both children and adults. And, I should know because I brought along my six-year old son, and he loved it.

"NBC Nightly News" correspondent Anne Thompson will report on the autism-friendly performance of Mary Poppins, which took place this Sunday, April 29 at 1PM. This performance was presented by Theatre Development Fund's Autism Theatre Initiative, which is a service of TDF's Accessibility Programs (TAP). Mary Poppins is the second Broadway production, after The Lion King, to host an autism-friendly performance. Following an overwhelming response to the announcement of these special performances, both shows promptly sold out.

Chimney sweeps dance, artwork comes alive and, ultimately, Mary Poppins' influence restores the fraying family ties between Mr. and Mrs. Banks and their two children. Yet theatergoers expecting a close interpretation of Disney's classic 1964 film will find little familiar territory in the onstage production of Mary Poppins. The show's creators certainly reference the movie in the costumes and sets and, more notably, by incorporating many of the film's most popular songs. However, the children's interactions and adventures with their "practically perfect" nanny primarily reflect stories included in the original Mary Poppins book series by P.L. Travers.

TDF's Autism Theater Initiative will present autism-friendly performances of Disney and Cameron Mackintosh's Mary Poppins on Sunday, April 29, at 1pm, at the New Amsterdam Theatre (214 West 42nd, Street, NYC) and Disney's The Lion King on Sunday, September 30, at 1pm, at the Minskoff Theatre (1515 Broadway, NYC).

Cameron Mathison ('All My Children,' 'Good Morning America') made his Broadway debut on Wednesday, November 2 in a cameo role in MARY POPPINS at the New Amsterdam Theatre. Mathison's performance will be shown as a part of a special 'Good Morning America' segment celebrating the 5th anniversary of MARY POPPINS on Broadway, airing Monday, November 7th at 7AM on ABC (schedule subject to change), in which he becomes the first non-cast member in the show's 7 year history to attempt Bert's 'proscenium walk.' Following the performance, Mathison, Steffanie Leigh (Mary Poppins), and Case Dillard (Bert at that evening's performance) were greeted backstage by Mathison's former 'All My Children' co-star, Susan Lucci. Olivier Award winner Laura Michelle Kelly, The West End's original MARY POPPINS, played her final performance on Broadway Sunday, October 9.
