Actors' Equity Association announced today that Green Day's AMERICAN IDIOT has been selected as the recipient of its Extraordinary Excellence in Diversity on Broadway Award for the 2009-2010 Season. The Diversity Award will be presented at a reception at the Equity headquarters in New York City on Tuesday, June 15, 2010.

The cast of the hit Broadway musical AMERICAN IDIOT performed '21 Guns' live this morning, June 10th, in the 8am (EST) hour, on CBS's 'The Early Show,' which airs weekdays from 7-9am. The appearance featured Tony Award winner John Gallagher Jr., Tony Award Nominee Stark Sands, Michael Esper, Rebecca Naomi Jones, Christina Sajous, and Mary Faber as well as Declan Bennett, Andrew Call, Gerard Canonico, Miguel Cervantes, Brian Charles Johnson, Leslie McDonel, Chase Peacock, Theo Stockman, Ben Thompson, Alysha Umphress, Sean Wing and Libby Winters.

On Monday, May 10th the Mary McGarry Children's Foundation is hosting a fundraiser from 8pm-10pm at the Times Square Arts Center (42nd St and 8th Ave). The event is proud to announce that several cast members from the critically acclaimed Broadway hit, Green Day's 'American Idiot' will be in attendance and will be performing their own songs throughout the evening.

Fresh off American Idiot's official Broadway opening, Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong visited the SIRIUS XM studios to talk with On Broadway's Julie James. During the interview, which will air in its entirety during the weekly show Broadway Names with Julie James, Billie Joe shares with listeners his reaction to seeing the multi-platinum and Grammy®-winning album come alive on stage at the St. James Theater.

Yesterday, April 27, cast members from AMERICAN IDIOT helped unveil the IDIOT-themed windows at Bloomingdale's on 59th Street. The Nudie denim line sold at the superstore is partnering with the production. The window displays honor the cast and celebrate the show's recent opening on April 20, 2010. Last week on April 20, 2010, Actor's Equity's David Westphal hosted the famed Gypsy Robe Ceremony for company members of AMERICAN IDIOT at the St. James Theatre. A long-standing opening night tradition on the Great White Way, the fabled Gypsy Robe is bestowed upon a veteran Broadway chorus member for each opening production. In what has now become a theatrical ritual, originating on Broadway 60 years ago, LA CAGE AUX FOLLES chorus member Dale Hensley turned over the robe to AMERICAN IDIOT cast member Andrew Call. BroadwayWorld was there for the celebration.

Cast members from AMERICAN IDIOT will help unveil the IDIOT-themed windows at Bloomingdale's on 59th Street on April 27. The windows, which are a blend of AMERICAN IDIOT and Nudie denim will be unveiled at 4:15pm.

This week, 'LIVE! with Regis and Kelly' welcomes some of today's most popular Broadway entertainers who are known to light up both the stage and screen during their popular 'Broadway Week.' A BEHANDING IN SPOKEANE's Christopher Walken and cast members from AMERICAN IDIOT kicked off 'Broadway Week' today, April 26. For the next week, each day, hosts Regis Philbin and Kelly Ripa will feature the seasons most exciting shows, with the hosts themselves taking part in some of the productions. For the show's musical guests today, AMERICAN IDIOT stars John Gallagher Jr., Michael Esper and Stark Sands performed the show's rendition of 'Wake Me Up When September Ends.'
