Multi-talented stage and screen star Benjamin Walker joins Cillian Muphy and Chris Hemsworth in Ron Howard's new period-set, MOBY DICK-esque feature film IN THE HEART OF THE SEA.

The novel upon which the film was based was penned by Nathaniel Philbrick and details a 1820 sperm whale attack on a large ship eventually resulting in a crew of seamen being lost at sea for several months, with only a handful of them ultimately surviving.

Cannibalism may or may not be involved, as well.

Additionally, the tragic whaling incident itself acted as inspiration for author Herman Melville, who used elements from the story as part of his canonical whale hunting volume, the celebrated literary classic MOBY DICK.

Hemsworth is set to play the first mate of the ship and Murphy second mate, while Walker will essay the role of a rival ship-mate who ascends to the top rank, Captain Pollard.

IN THE HEART OF THE SEA is set to start shooting in September in the UK.
