WHITE CHRISTMAS Screens in Middletown, PA, to Support Elks Theatre, 12/8 & 9

Get into the swing of things this holiday season with Bing Crobsy in the musical classic White Christmas in 35mm at The Elks Theatre. For two nights only this special SAVE THE ELKS! screening will benefit the Greater Middletown Economic Development Corporation's campaign to install a vital digital projection system and new art deco marquee. White Christmas screens at 9:30pm on Saturday December 8th and 5pm on Sunday December 9th.

White Christmas will coincide with the GMEDC's annual Candlelight Tour of Historic Homes, a traditional fundraiser for the theater, running from 4pm-8pm Saturday and 1pm-5pm Sunday. Before and after each screening, renowned local pianist, Joe Trojcak, will play Christmas tunes as well as original compositions. A unique 'Holiday Package' is also available Saturday evening, including the home tour, White Christmas, and a reception of delicious heavy hors d'oeuvres and desserts.

Over the next year, SAVE THE ELKS! aims to raise $200k and establish the Elks as the premiere repertory cinema in central Pennsylvania. Since mid-October, the campaign screened John Carpenter's The Thing and will bring in the New Year with the first Monty Python Festival all in classic 35mm.

ABOUT SAVE THE ELKS!: For the next 8 to 10 months, the Greater Middletown Economic Development Corporation (GMEDC) is embarking on a vital mission to SAVE THE ELKS! from closure due to radical changes in movie technology. After celebrating its 100th anniversary last year, The Elks Theatre is only one of thousands of small, independently operated movie theaters nationwide threatened by the discontinuation of 35mm exhibition and in vital need of digital projection.

For The Elks to survive, the GMEDC must run a campaign to preserve the most timeless community tradition: Going to the movies.
