Guillermo Del Toro, producer of Mama, which opens on January 18th via Universal, has just introduced Andres Muschietti's original, Spanish-language short film that inspired the feature-length movie. Click below to check it out!
MAMA is an upcoming 2013 horror drama film, directed by Muschietti from a screenplay by Muschetti, Barbara Muschetti and Neil Cross. The film is produced by J. Miles Dale and Barbara Muschietti, with Guillermo Del Toro serving as executive producer. Oscar nominee Jessica Chastain, now making her Broadway debut in The Heiress, stars along with Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Megan Charpentier, and Isabelle Nélisse.
In the film, a couple, Annabel and Lucas, are faced with the challenge of raising Lucas' young nieces, who were discovered in a forest after being lost there for five years. It becomes apparent that the girls are being haunted by a ghostly woman they believe to be their mother.Annabel plans to use the girls in a bid to bring back her own dead children.
