Producer-J-Mark-Travis-dies-at-61-20010101

According to Variety, theatre, film and TV producer J. Mark Travis passed away Tuesday, December 25, 2012, after a short illness. He was 61.

Read the original report here.

Travis started his career as an agent representing music composers, including Don Ellis and Jack Nitzsche. Travis then moved into film production in 1975, when he joined Bill Sargent and David Permut on "Give 'em Hell Harry!", which earned its star James Whitmore an Academy Award nomination.

The trio also produced the film "Richard Pryor: Live in Concert". Travis and Permut went on to create a Production Company that facilitated Cheech & Chong's starring gigs in "Nice Dreams" and "Things Are Tough All Over." The pair later produced the film "Fighting Back" with Dino DeLaurentiis, and worked on "The Lifeguard, Ronald Reagan and his Story", which was a one-man play meant to be performed and filmed in front of a live audience.

The family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Glendale Adventist Medical Center. Memorial service details will be announced.
