According to The Hollywood Reporter, 'The Artist' star Berenice Bejo will serve as the 'Mistress of Ceremonies' for the 2012 Cannes Film Festival. The actress will host the opening and closing ceremonies of the 65th annual event. An official announcement is expected on Thursday during a press conference in Paris.
News of Bejo's appointment was reported in the French newspaper Le Parisien. 'The Artist' star received an Oscar nomination for her performance in last year's Academy Award-winning film. Past Mistress of Ceremonies include actresses Kristin Scott Thomas, Monica Bellucci, Diane Kruger and last year’s host Melanie Laurent.
The French newspaper also reported that 'Rust and Bone' a film from Jacques Audiard and starring Marion Cotillard, will most likely be among this year's selections to compete for the festival's top spot.
