Colman Domingo will play a White House butler at the First Family's executive mansion in the upcoming Lee Daniels film The Butler, according to Deadline.com. Danny Strong wrote the script with Daniels.

Based on the life of White House servant Eu Gene Allen, who worked for eight presidential families over the course of three decades, the film will begin shooting this month in New Orleans.

Domingo joins a cast led by Forest Whitaker as Allen, Oprah Winfrey as Allen's wife, Matthew McConaughey as John F. Kennedy, John Cusack as Richard Nixon, Alan Rickman as Ronald Reagan, Jane Fonda as Nancy Reagan, as well as Cuba Gooding Jr., David Oyelowo, Lenny Kravitz, Jess Williams and Alex Pettyfer.

Domingo last appeared on Broadway in The Scottsboro Boys and played roles in the Broadway productions of Chicago, Passing Strange and Well, as well as Blood Knot, Bright Ideas, A Boy and His Soul, and Henry V Off-Broadway. His upcoming film appearances include Spike Lee's Red Hook Summer, 42 and Lincoln. Past film credits include Miracle at St. Anna, Freedomland, Kung Phooey!, Desi's Looking for a New Girl, True Crime and more. On TV, Domingo appeared in The Big Gay Sketch Show, several guest appearances on Law & Order and in the series Nash Bridges.
