Arc Entertainment recently acquired all North American rights to the family film STANDING UP, based on the award-winning young adult novel by Brock Cole, The Goats. Starring Chandler Canterbury (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button), Annalise Basso (Bedtime Stories) and Val Kilmer (Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Top Gun), the film was written and directed by D.J. Caruso. The film is set to hit theaters on Aug. 16, will be availabe exclusively at Wal Mart on DVD beginning Aug. 20, as well as VOD.

"This is a coming of age film that already has a strong following because of the great success of the novel," says Drinkwater. "We're glad to be a part of a film that sends a positive message to young people and the community at large that we all need to come together to 'Stand Up' against bullying. This is a film with great courage and heart."

STANDING UP tells the story of an 11-year-old boy and a 12-year-old girl who are ostracized by their peers at summer camp and soon find themselves victims of a vicious prank. But rather than returning to camp to face humiliation, they run away. Their three-day journey brings new experiences and despite a traumatic encounter, they help each other overcome adversity, forming a unique bond that helps them lead to a path of self-discovery.

STANDING UP is produced by Alexander Rodnyansky and Media Talent Group's Geyer Kosinski. Boris Teterev and Sergei Bespalov are Executive Producers. The deal was negotiated by ARC Entertainment's Drinkwater, CAA and Aldamisa Entertainment's Jere Haufsfater and Tim Swain on behalf of the filmmakers.

Recent Arc Entertainment releases include Red Dog (Josh Lucas), Amazing Racer (Louis Gossett Jr., Eric Roberts, Claire Forlani, Julianne Michelle), Heaven's Door, Unconditional (Michael Ealy), Space Warriors (Josh Lucas) and Return to Nim's Island (Matthew Lillard, Bindi Irwin).
