Rooney Mara to Join Cast of SIDE EFFECTS

The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that actress Rooney Mara will be joining the cast of Steven Soderbergh's upcoming film SIDE EFFECTS. The movie is scripted by Scott Z. Burns and directed by Soderbergh. Filming is set to begin this April on location in New York.

The actress will portray a deeply depressed woman who fears the imminent release of her husband (Tatum) from prison. Her fears result in a drug addiction which leads to unexpected consequences including a relationship with another doctor played by Law.

Burns will produce the film which will be executive produced by Gregory Jacobs, Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Marc Butan and Ted Schipper. 

Last week, Mara received an Oscar nomination for her role of Lisbeth Salander in Columbia’s adaptation of 'The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo'.

The film is scheduled to be released in theaters in the first half of 2013.
