Pilobolus's groundbreaking collaboration with the band OK Go and Google on the music video "All Is Not Lost" garnered multiple Cannes Lions Awards at the 59th Annual Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, currently taking place in Cannes, France. The honors bestowed on the video are the Gold Film Lion for Interactive Film, Gold Cyber Lion (Craft) for Best Video, the Gold Design Lion for Typography, the Silver Cyber Lion (Websites & Microsites) for Publications & Media, and the Bronze Design Lion for Online Digital Design. These prestigious honors come on the heels of the video's 2012 GRAMMY Award Nomination for Best Short Form Music Video.

"At Pilobolus, nothing is more important than mining opportunities to work with people we admire and have fun with," said Itamar Kubovy, Executive Director of Pilobolus and Co-Director of the "All Is Not Lost" video. "This collaboration with OK Go and the folks at Google is the perfect example of how we strive to convene diverse brilliance to make something surprising and delightful. To see the work honored by the Cannes Lions Festival in this way is extraordinarily gratifying, and serves as further proof of the wonderful things that can happen when you surround yourself with great company."

"Working with Pilobolus is like being a gourmet chow-hound who gets a once-in-a-lifetime chance to eat in the world's finest restaurant," enthused "All Is Not Lost" Co-Director Trish Sie. "They're adventurous and inventive, but also brave."

"We love chasing our craziest ideas - the ones that seem closest to the line where possible turns to
impossible," explained OK Go frontman and "All Is Not Lost" Co-Director Damian Kulash Jr. "You
wouldn't think that the ad world, where corporate safety usually reigns, would be the most fertile soil for such risky projects, so it's all the more thrilling to be raking in the awards at Cannes this week. Big kudos to Google and their agency for having the balls to put the art before the sales pitch, and even bigger kudos to their advertising peers for validating that approach with their highest awards."

Co-directed by Pilobolus Executive Director Itamar Kubovy, OK Go lead singer and guitarist Damian Kulash Jr., and Trish Sie, and produced by Shirley Moyers, "All Is Not Lost" represents the first video collaboration between GRAMMY Award-winning rock band OK Go and world-renowned dance troupe Pilobolus. Together with Google, they crafted an interactive online dance and music experience using HTML5 Chrome-the first of its kind. The project showcases the latest in modern browser technology, allowing users the ability to direct segments of the choreography to incorporate a unique message in English, Japanese or any language using the Roman or Katakana alphabets. Spread across twelve separate windows, "All Is Not Lost" is a kaleidoscopic wonder of movement, music and living letters. The video has been viewed by millions at: www.allisnotlo.st.

The Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity is the world's biggest celebration of creativity in communications. As the most prestigious international creative communications awards, more than 28,000 entries from all over the world are showcased and judged at the Festival. Winners receive the highly coveted Lion trophy, presented at four award ceremonies throughout the week.

The Festival is also the only truly global meeting place for advertisers, advertising and communication professionals. Over 9,000 delegates from 90 countries attend seven days of workshops, exhibitions, screenings, master classes and high-profile seminars by industry leaders.
In 2007, to expand its collaborative practices, Pilobolus launched the International Collaborators Project, a series of collective choreographic projects with multi-disciplinary artists, such as writer and illustrator, Maurice Sendak; the Israeli choreographic team, Inbal Pinto and Avshalom Pollak; the remarkable American puppeteer, Basil Twist; Pulitzer Prize-winner, comic artist Art Spiegelman; the GRAMMY-winning American composer and musician Dan Zanes; the band OK Go; the MIT Distributed Robotics Laboratory directed by Professor Daniela Rus; the Japanese butoh choreographer Takuya Muramatsu; the radio program Radiolab; the MacArthur "Genius" Award- winning juggler Michael Moschen; and the Belgian-Moroccan choreographer Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui.

Pilobolus is a modern performance company, founded in 1971, that to this day wears its revolutionary stripes on its sleeves. In keeping with its fundamentally collective creative process, Pilobolus Dance Theatre now curates and convenes groups of diverse artists- including the MIT Distributed Robotics Laboratory, Art Spiegelman, OK Go, Radiolab, and many others-to make inventive, athletic, witty, collaborative performance works on stage and screen using the human body as a medium for expression. Pilobolus makes art to build community. It teaches its group-based creative process to performers and non-dancers alike through popular, unique educational projects and programs. This collection of activities is called the Pilobolus Institute.

Pilobolus also applies its method of creative invention to a wide range of movement services for film, advertising, publishing, commercial clients, and corporate events. This division is called Pilobolus Creative Services. The 2012 season marks Pilobolus's 41st year. In keeping with the energy and spirit of its biological namesake-a phototropic fungus that thrives in farmyards-the company has continued to grow toward the light, expanding and refining its unique methods of collective creative production to assemble a repertoire of over 100 choreographic works. While it has become a stable and influential force in the world of dance, Pilobolus remains as protean as ever, looking forward to the next 40 years of collaborating on the future.
