Warner Brothers studios has just released a production photo of actor Ben Affleck in his starring role in ARGO, an upcoming film set to be released in the fall of 2012.
Affleck will direct and star in the movie which is based on the true story of CIA agent Tony Mendez, who was responsible for freeing American hostages held in Tehran in 1979. Mendez had fooled Iranian captives into believing that the hostages were actually Canadian film makers who were in Iran to film an upcoming project entitled, 'Argo'.
This is not the first time that Mendez's story has been told on film. In 1981, a made-for-TV movie entitled 'Escape from Iran: The Canadian Caper' premiered starring Gordon Pinsent in the role of Canadian Ambassador Ken Taylor.
George Clooney will be producing the upcoming film, set to hit theaters in September of 2012.
