Rose Caiola, who is the producer and co-writer of the off-Broadway musical hit "Freckleface The Musical" (based on the popular children's book by Julianne Moore) and also made her Broadway debut as a producer this year with "Godspell" at Circle in the Square, now adds film to her growing resume with "First Position," a film by director Bess Kargman, for which she serves as Executive Producer. The film which has received rave reviews across the country was screened this past weekend at the Elinor Bunin Monroe Theatre/Film Society of Lincoln Center on West 65th Street. Presented in association wit sundance Selects and distributed nationally by IFC Films, the film follows the inspirational footsteps of six talented ballet dancers (ages 9-19) as they struggle to maintain form in the face of injury and personal sacrifice on their way to one of the most prestigious youth ballet competitions in the world, The Youth America Grand Prix. It is a feature length documentary about a love of dance and drive to succeed that trumps money, politics and, even war.
With a love of ballet since childhood, Ms. Caiola is the founder and Executive Director of the Manhattan Movement and Arts Center located on West 60th Street.
