Paul Dano Opts for Thriller PRISNORS Over 'Jersey Boys' Adaptation

Deadline reports that Broadway vet Paul Dano has joined the cast of Warner Bros' upcoming thriller PRISNORS. The actor joins previously announced cast members Hugh Jackman, Melissa Leo and Jake Gyllenhaal on the film. According to the report, Dano was also offered a starring role in Jon Favreau's upcoming big screen adaptation of the Broadway musical Jersey Boys, but chose the kidnapping thriller instead.

PRISNORS centers on "a small-town carpenter (Jackman) whose young daughter and her best friend are kidnapped. After the cops fail to find them, Keller takes the law into his own hands but runs up against a hot-shot detective (Gyllenhaal) assigned to the case."

Denis Villeneuve will direct the film which a script by Aaron Guzikowki. Production is set to begin in early 2013.

Dano's Broadway credits include Inherit the Wind, A Month in the Country, and A Free Man of Color. He has appeared in films such as L.I.E. (2001), Too Young to Be a Dad (2002), The Girl Next Door (2004), Little Miss Sunshine (2006), There Will Be Blood (2007), and Cowboys & Aliens (2011).
