The Tony Award nominated actor appeared on Broadway in David Mamet's 'A Life in the Theatre' in the lead character of 'Robert', a role he previously played in the 2005 production at London's Apollo Theatre. In 2009, he won an Evening Standard Award, a Critics' Circle Award, a TMA Theatre Award, a Theatregoers' Choice Award nomination, an Outer Critics Circle Award nomination, a Laurence Olivier Award nomination, and a Tony Award nomination for playing the title role in Rupert Goold's Chichester Festival Theatre production of Macbeth which subsequently transferred to the West End and then Broadway.
Stewart's many honors include an Emmy for directing a Next Generation episode called A Fistful of Datas and Officer of the British Empire (O.B.E.), conferred on him by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth in 2001. He received a knighthood in the New Year Honour's list in 2010 for his services to Drama.
The Peabodys, the oldest awards in broadcasting, are considered among the most prestigious and selective prizes in electronic media.
