Pacino, De Niro, Pesci Sign on for THE IRISHMAN

According to MTV Movie Blog, Al Pacino will join Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci in 'The Irishman', an upcoming film about Frank Sheeran.  The film, which revolves around Sheeran's murder of Jimmy Hoffa, is being adapted from Charles Brandt's 'I Heard You Paint Houses' by Steve Zailian. Martin Scorsese is set to direct the film. Production will begin next year.

Al Pacino is currently starring in The Merchant of Venice at the Broadhurst Theatre.  Additional stage credits include: Does a Tiger Wear a Necktie?, The Basic Training of Pavlo Hummel, and Richard III. 

Joe Pesci is best known for his appearances in Goodfellas, Casino, Raging Bull, Once Upon a Time in America, My Cousin Vinny, JFK, Moonwalker, and Home Alone.

Robert De Niro earned an Academy Award for Best Actor for his portrayal of Jake LaMotta in 1980's Raging Bull. He was also nominated for an Academy Award for his roles in Scorsese's Taxi Driver  and Cape Fear. He also received nominations for his acting in Michael Cimino's The Deer Hunter and Penny Marshall's Awakenings.
