The striking, new, all-too-apropos monochrome and pink poster has just been revealed for THE AVENGERS director Joss Whedon's feature film adaptation of William Shakespeare's celebrated comedy MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING, coming to movie theaters nationwide later this year.
In an unlikely career move only the man behind DR. HORRIBLE'S SING-A-LONG BLOG could conjur up, Whedon has followed up the most successful film of 2012 with a Shakespearean romantic comedy he shot largely in his own backyard in only 12 days!
Yet, it is sure to hit its target as readily as Thor's hammer considering it is a passion project for the self-admitted Broadway baby helmer, who is prepping the script to AVENGERS 2 now before filming commences on that in a few months.
The mostly black-and-white contemporary take on the classic tale of mismatched love has been met with critical praise in its early screenings, though the works of Shakespeare are not an always easy sell to most demographics sought by studios these days, particularly from a director as high profile as Whedon.
Nevertheless, MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING is set for release in June, first in select cities on June 7 and then wide on June 21.
MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING stars Amy Acker, Alexis Denisof, Reed Diamond, Clark Gregg, Fran Kranz, Sean Maher, Jillian Morgese and Nathan Fillion.
