Variety reports that New Line Cinema has just acquired the rights to the young adult novel THE RAVEN BOYS, written by Maggie Stiefvater. Akiva Goldsman will produce under a partnership with Safehouse Pictures. There is currently no writer attached to the project.

THE RAVEN BOYS follows Blue described as, "a 16-year old from a family of psychics who has been foretold that she will cause her true love to die. Avoiding boys was pretty easy when she was younger but harder now that she is beginning to find herself attracted to them, especially the rich prep school-going circle of teen known as the Raven Boys." One of the teens is in pursuit of the burial site of a Welsh nobel who is rumored to be in a deep slumber. Whoever rouses the nobel from his sleep will be granted a favor.

THE RAVEN BOYS is set to be published tomorrow, September 18th. It will be the first of a four-book series.
