MUNDIAL, the recently announced international sales joint venture of prolific Hollywood film financing and sales company IM Global and Canana, one of Latin America's top production and distribution companies, has acquired international rights to the critically acclaimed WHO IS DAYANI CRISTAL?, it was announced jointly today by Mundial Vice President Cristina Garza and Canana partner Pablo Cruz.

The film, which was the first film to screen at this year's Sundance Film Festival, opening the World Cinema Documentary section, is directed by Marc Silver, and produced by Lucas Ochoa, Thomas Benski, and Gael García Bernal. Bernal also stars in the film.

WHO IS DAYANI CRISTAL? begins when border police discover a decomposing male body deep in the sun-blistered Sonora desert in Arizona. Lifting a tattered T-shirt, they expose a tattoo that reads "Dayani Cristal." Who is this person? What brought him here? How did he die? And who - or what- is Dayani Cristal? Actor/producer Bernal investigates the life of an immigrant who died crossing the border, as he retraces this harrowing journey.

The deal was brokered by Mundial's Garza, IM Global's Ford, Jonathan Deckter and Ben Rekhi, producers Thomas Benski, Lucas Ochoa and Sam Sniderman of Pulse Films. Josh Braun of Submarine is handling U.S. rights. WHO IS DAYANI CRISTAL? joins feature film drama MANTO ACUIFERO and feature film comedy PARAISO on the inaugural Mundial slate.
