Michael Bay is reportedly courting action star Mark Wahlberg to take over the lucrative, though dwindling, TRANSFORMERS franchise, Twitch reported earlier tonight. Wahlberg is in "early talks," so nothing is set as of now. - but the series is in need of a new star. Shia LaBeouf formerly carried the films, but departed following TRANSFORMERS: DARK SIDE OF THE MOON.
Ehren Kruger's script for the fourth film, acts as a bit of a reexamination of the series, centering on an adult and his teenager, with the latter set up to take over the franchise. A new take is probably necessary, as the TRANSFORMERS series has generally been panned by critics in its later endeavors. Regardless, each film has brought in box office record busting numbers.
TRANSFORMERS 4 is set for release on June 29, 2014.
