Mark Duplass, who recently appeared in ZERO DARK THIRTY, has officially signed on for the film adaptation of Stephen King's short story, GRAMMA, renamed MERCY for the big screen. Deadline first broke the news.
Peter Cornwell (THE HAUNTING IN CONNECTICUT) is helming film for Blumhouse and Wonderland Sound and Vision, while Universal will release the film. Jason Blum and McG and Mary Viola of Wonderland are set to produce. Matt Greenberg penned the script.MERCY, based upon King's short story GRAMMA, follows two brothers who move with their mother to take care of their ailing grandmother - little do they know, their grandma's a witch. Frances O'Connor (AI: Artificial Intelligence) will play the boys' mother.The film also Dylan McDermott, Chandler Riggs, Joel Courtney, Shirley Knight (who may be playing the once titular 'Gramma') and Chris Browning.
Duplass is also currently set to star in and co-produce PEACHFUZZ, with his brother Jay, for Blumhouse Productions.
