HEARD IT THROUGH THE GRAPEVINE
Lenny Kravitz - who's transitioned from the music industry to Hollywood - has officially signed on to portray the late Motown legend Marvin Gaye in the upcoming biopic HEARD I THROUGH THE GRAPEVINE. Deadline confirmed the news just this evening.
Kravitz has recently ventured into film, landing supporting roles in this year's THE HUNGER GAMES, as well as its sequels, and the Oscar-winning PRECIOUS.
The untitled film will follow Gaye during the 1980s, while he attempted to make a career comeback and abandon his multiple addictions with British music promoter Freddy Cousaert.
The project, set to be directed by Julien Temple, will begin filming in 2013. Pre-production, and casting is now underway. Temple has made a name for himself as a video and documentary director, including ABSOLUTE BEGINNERS and the 2012 Summer Olympics' doc LONDON: MODERN BABYLON.
No release date or additional casting has yet to be announced on Temple's upcoming Gaye project - BroadwayWorld will keep you updated as further details emerge.
