LES MIS Surpasses $100M at Box Office; TEXAS CHAINSAW 3D Takes Weekend

Tom Hooper's big screen adaptation of LES MISERABLES has now officially surpassed the $100 million mark this weekend (Jan. 4-6). It is now the seventh most-profitable musical since 1974. TEXAS CHAINSAW 3D claimed the weekend box office with $23 million, LES MIS placed at number four.

Lionsgate's TEXAS CHAINSAW 3D continues the legendary story of the homicidal Sawyer family, picking up where Tobe Hooper's 1974 horror classic left off in Newt, Texas, where for decades people went missing without a trace.

Quentin Tarantino's latest sure-to-be pop-culture hit Django Unchained took in an additional $20 million, bringing its total-to-date up to $106 million.

THE HOBBIT has continued to be incredibly lucrative, much like Peter Jackson's previous trilogy LORD OF THE RINGS; after nearly a month on the market, the film grossed another $17 million, bumping its total up to $263.8 million.
