Juliette Fairley Named Up & Coming Artist at Pocono Film Festival

Film Festival Darling Juliette Fairley picked up another award over the weekend. This time the Mulatto Saga Creator was awarded an Up & Coming Artist trophy at the 10th annual Pocono Mountains Film Festival on Saturday night after her film Juliette Fairley's Mulatto's Dilemma screened at the privately owned, funded and operated film festival in Pennsylvania.
"I am grateful that my work is being recognized," said Fairley who was flanked at the podium by co-stars Ginger Fries and Cassidy Knight.

Fairley is the creator and star of three short films called Mulatto's Dilemma, the upcoming Diary of a Mulatto Bride and Mulatto Saga, which aired on CBS-TV network affiliate yesterday in New York City. Comments from viewers included, "it struck an emotional chord" and "I saw the film and I cried like a baby."

Honorees at the Pocono festival included actress Sheryl Lee Ralph of Moesha fame, Spike Lee's Casting Director Winsome Sinclair and ReShaun Frear who produced the upcoming feature film Christmas in Compton for Lionsgate, which stars Oscar Winner Cuba Gooding's brother Omar Gooding.

The prestigious festival, founded by Bridget Davis, took place at the Howard Johnson's on Route 611.

"I am African American. My husband is Jewish and our daughter is bi-racial. Juliette's remarkable promise, progress and insight with her film speaks to the new normal in our country," said Davis who announced that her daughter would run the festival next year.
Just a few weeks ago, Fairley's films were also awarded People's Choice Best Fiction Film at the 2012 Red Hook Film Festival in Brooklyn and Best Romantic Comedy at the 2012 New York International Film Festival in Los Angeles.

The three films are based on Fairley's life experience growing up bi-racial in America with a French mother and African American father.
