Australians Paul Hogan and Rose Byrne will be honoured at the star-studded 10th Anniversary G'Day USA Los Angeles Black Tie Gala on January 12, 2013. John Travolta will also be honored as a Goodwill Ambassador for Australia. The gala is part of the multi-city G'Day USA Australia Week program that showcases Australian capabilities in the USA. Elle Macpherson and Richard Wilkins will share Master of Ceremony duties and Chef Curtis Stone is preparing a menu of premium Australian food and wine. Australian Consul General Ms. Karen Lanyon made the announcement today.
Paul Hogan (Crocodile Dundee) is being honored as an Australian Icon for his pioneering work introducing Australia as a destination to a generation of Americans. Actress Rose Byrne (Bridesmaids, Damages) will receive an Excellence in Film & Television Award for her outstanding body of work. John Travolta (Grease) is also being recognized as a Goodwill Ambassador for Australia for his ongoing support of Australia and his enthusiastic patronage at G'Day USA events since its inception in 2004.
Mr. Wally Mariani, G'Day USA Committee Chairman stated, "As we celebrate 10 years of G'Day and look to the next 10 years, we are pleased to honour Paul Hogan with our first Icon Award, John Travolta will be our first Good will Ambassador Award and Rose Byrne will be honored for her remarkable career to date."
Past honorees, who include Nicole Kidman, Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Eric Bana, Naomi Watts, Simon Baker, Cate Blanchett, Toni Collette, Barry Gibb, Keith Urban, Greg Norman, Guy Pearce, Rod Laver, and Olivia Newton-John, will be formally acknowledged at the event.
