Deadline.com reports that John Stamos has joined the cast of the indie comedy MY MAN IS A LOSER. The actor will join previously announced cast members Michael Rappaport and Bryan Callen.
The film centers on two men who attempt to become better husbands to their wives. Stamos will play the men's "playboy pal" who tries to thwart their ambitions. Mike Young penned the script and will also direct the film. David Goldin and Eric Bamberger will produce along with Michael Becker of Imprint Entertainment. Filming is set to begin this month in New York City.
As BWW previously reported, Stamos will join Cybill Shepherd, Emmy Award nominee Kristin Davis and Tony Award winner Elizabeth Ashley in the cast of the Tony-nominated Broadway revival of Gore Vidal’s THE BEST MAN this July when original cast members Candice Bergen, Eric McCormack, Kerry Butler and Angela Lansbury depart the production.
Shepherd, Stamos and Davis will begin performances on Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at 7:00pm, while Ashley will begin on Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at 7:00pm.
Stamos has enjoyed tremendous success on Broadway, most recently starring in the Tony Award-winning "NINE." and the Broadway revival of 'Bye Bye Birdie.' His Broadway debut came in 1997's "How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying" and, in 2000, he starred as the Emcee in "Caberet," which was very well received.
His recent film credits include the independent films I Am Stamos and Knots. Through his St. Amos banner, Stamos has many television projects in the works, including the TV Movie "Dillinger" for TNT, and co-producing a feature film version of the TV Classic "The Jeffersons" for Sony. Additional producing credits include an Emmy nomination in 2000 for co-producing the ABC miniseries "Beach Boys: An American Family" and the highly rated CBS telefilm "Martin & Lewis."
Not limiting himself to behind-the-camera work, he recently appeared in the ABC comedy "Jake in Progress." In 2001, he starred in the ABC romantic comedy "Thieves" about a pair of master thieves who become covert government agents.
