According to The Wrap, John Lithgow has completed the cast of Christopher Nolan's sci-fi thriller INTERSTELLAR. Lithgow joins previously announced stars Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, Michael Caine, Casey Affleck, Bill Irwin and Mackenzie Foy.

Nolan directs from a script written by himself and his brother Jonathan Nolan. Not much has been revealed about the plot, which centers on a group of space explorers who get sucked through wormhole and end up in another dimension.

Lithgow just won an Emmy and a Golden Globe for his role in Dexter's fourth season. Next projects include The Homesman and the TV series Once Upon a Time in Wonderland. Past screen credits include This Is 40, The Campaign, New Year's Eve, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Leap Year, the TV series Twenty Good Years, Dreamgirls, Kinsey, The Life and Death of Peter Sellars, TV's 3rd Rock from the Sun, Shrek and many more.

Lithgow has appeared on Broadway in The Columnist, All My Sons, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, The Retreat from Moscow, The Play What I Wrote, Sweet Smell of Success, M. Butterfly, The Front Page, Requiem for a Heavyweight, Beyond Therapy, Division Street, Bedroom Farce, Spokesong, Anna Christie, Comedians, Secret Service, Trelawny of the "Wells", My Fat Friend and The Changing Room, as well as The Magistrate in the West End.
