Idaho Filmmaker Gregory Bayne Hosts Fundraiser for His Film BLOODSWORTH: AN INNOCENT MAN, 9/22

Idaho filmmaker Gregory Bayne, in partnership with the ACLU of Idaho, and Boise Contemporary Theater, presents a fundraising event for the continued production of BLOODSWORTH: An Innocent Man, a feature documentary about Kirk Noble Bloodsworth, the first death row inmate in the US to be exonerated by DNA evidence. The event takes place on Saturday, September 22 at 7pm at Boise Contemporary Theater, 854 Fulton St, in downtown Boise.

Tickets are free, but seating is limited so we encourage you to reserve seating at: http://bloodsworthatbct.eventbrite.com/. Attendees will be among the first to screen selected sequences from the work-in-progress film, followed by a Q&A with the filmmaker.

In development and production since late 2011, Bloodsworth: An Innocent Man, is raising funds to complete produciton, including shooting live action reenactments, and traveling to Maryland to film the 2013 legislative session during which Kirk will work with Maryland CASE (Citizens Against State Executions) for the repeal the death penalty in the state that convicted him to die nearly 30 years ago.

BLOODSWORTH: An Innocent Man, recounts Kirk Bloodsworth’s remarkable true story of wrongful conviction for a crime he did not commit, and his decade long battle to reclaim his freedom. Fundamentally a character driven film, BLOODSWORTH focuses on Kirk’s own experience to create a fully realized portrait of what it feels like to be an every-day individual, violently snatched-out of their normal free existence and tossed into a true living nightmare. Ultimately, BLOODSWORTH seeks to captures the power of this indomitable human spirit, illustrating how one survives, even thrives, in the face of incredible adversity.

Gregory Bayne is a filmmaker living and working in Idaho. Active in several local and national productions over the past decade, Bayne is a two time Idaho Media Workforce Development Grant reciepent, and former Idaho Commision on the Arts Fellow in film and media. He has been a speaker on the changing landscape of film and media at Columbia University, London Film School and the Los Angeles Film Festival, and has been featured in Filmmaker, Film Threat and Wired Magazines. His most recent film, the highly acclaimed, JENS PULVER | DRIVEN, about the legendary mixed martial arts fighter, was released by Warner Brothers in 2011.
