According to Hollywood Reporter, Hugh Jackman will star in the Alcon movie, Prisoners, a thriller to be directed by Denis Villeneuve.

Jackman will play a small-town carpenter whose daughter and daughter's friend are kidnapped. The film will follow the carpenter as he captures the man he thinks is behind his daughter's disappearance. Aaron Guzikowsku wrote the script. Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson of Alcom will produce next to Kira Davis of 8:38 Productions and Adam Kolbrenner of Madhouse Entertainment. Ed McDonnell and John Stark will executive produce. According to Hollywood Reporter, the film is scheduled for an early 2013 shoot, once Jackman has finished the next Wolverine film.

Jackman's stage credits include the upcoming Broadway production of Houdini and the recent Broadway show, Hugh Jackman Back on Broadway. He also starred in the 2009 Broadway production of A Steady Rain and in the West End Royal National Theatre production of Oklahoma. Jackman made his New York debut on June 6, 2002, in a benefit concert of Rodgers & Hammerstein's "Carousel" at Carnegie Hall. Hugh sang the role of Billy Bigelow opposite Audra McDonald as Julie Jordan. Jackman made his Broadway debut as Peter Allen (a favorite son of his native Australia) in the 2003 musical "The Boy From Oz", the first Australian musical to come to Broadway. Hugh's amazing performance in the show earned him the Tony Award for Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Musical.

Hugh Jackman was born in Sydney, Australia, on October 12, 1968, the youngest of five children. After earning a BA degree in Communication from the University of Technology, Sydney, Hugh turned his attention to drama. He was accepted into the prestigious Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts and graduated in 1994. Upon graduation, Hugh was offered a starring role in the Australian television series "Correlli." It was on the set of "Correlli" that Hugh met the woman who is now his wife, actress/director Deborra-Lee Furness. They married in 1996 and are the proud parents of a son, Oscar, born in 2000, shortly before the premiere of Hugh's American film debut, "X-Men."
