Variety reports that Daniel Radcliffe will headline the upcoming remake of, All Queit on the Western Front. All Quiet on the Western Front is an epic 1930 American war film based on the Erich Maria Remarque novel of the same name and centers on warfare during WWI. The original film was directed by Lewis Milestone, and stars Louis Wolheim, Lew Ayres, John Wray, Arnold Lucy and Ben Alexander. It was later made into an unpopular television movie in 1979.

Ian Stokell and Lesley Paterson penned an adaptation and will additionally produce the film under the banner of their Production Company, Sliding Down Rainbows Entertainment.

Stokell tells Variety: "Daniel brings a vulnerability and innocence to Paul. When we realized how much he loved the script we were really excited because we know he can tap into the delicate balance between intensity and believability that is critical for this demanding role."

Filming will begin following Radcliffe's stint in HOW TO SUCCEED IN BUSINESS on Broadway in the spring of 2011.

Daniel Radcliffe is best known for playing the title role in all six of the "Harry Potter" films to date, and will star again in the remaining titles. He recently made his Broadway debut, to much acclaim, in EQUUS. EQUUS also starred Richard Griffiths, with whom Daniel appeared in the highly successful production of the play in London's West End and in the Harry Potter films as well. Radcliffe won BroadwayWorld.com 's 2009 Theatre Fans' Choice Award for Best Leading Actor in a Play for his role in EQUUS.
