Christoph Waltz Picks up Best Supporting Actor at VH1's Critics Choice Awards

In tonight's VH1 Critics Choice Movie Awards ceremony, Christoph Waltz picked up the award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in 'Inglorious Basterds.'

Christoph Waltz studied acting at the Max Reinhardt Seminar in Vienna and the prestigious Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in New York. Waltz's performing roots are in the theatre; playing in venues such as Schauspielhaus Zürich in Zurich, Burgtheater in Vienna, and the Salzburg Festival.

His portrayal of the "The Jew Hunter" in Quentin Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds has been sweeping the awards circle, earning him the Best Actor Award at the 2009 Cannes Film Festival, and a Best Supporting Actor award from the New York Film Critics Circle, the Boston Society of Film Critics, and the Los Angels Film Critics Association amongst other awards. Waltz also received a Golden Globes nomination for Best Supporting Actor. The Globes ceremony airs on Sunday, January 17.

The 15th Annual Critics' Choice Movie Awards gala are being handed out tonight; Friday, January 15, 2010 at 9:00 PM with Emmy and Tony Award winning actress Kristin Chenoweth as hostess. The awards are bestowed annually by the BFCA to honor the finest in cinematic achievement.
