Britain's Got Talent surprise sensation Susan Boyle has become such an internet hit that actress Demi Moore and husband Ashton Kutcher have been Twittering about her.
Kutcher caught the visually plain but talented Boyle singing and posted a link to a video of her much-discussed Saturday night singing performance on his Twitter page. "This just made my night," remarked the young actor.
Moore answered her husband's Twitter entry by exclaiming, "You saw it made me teary!"
The unassuming 47 year old Susan Boyle wowed the judges with her performance in the auditions for the latest season of Britains Got Talent, singing "I Dreamed A Dream" from Les Miserables.
Her stunning performance even touched 'Les Miz' impresario Cameron Mackintosh. The musical theatre legend remarked in a statement that, "Just like the judges and audience I was gob-smacked by the emotional powerhouse performance of Susan Boyle's show stopping rendition of 'I Dreamed a Dream.' Vocally it is one of the best versions of the song I've ever heard. Touching, thrilling and uplifting".
Boyle, an unemployed woman who's "nearly 48," talked about her cat, and joked around with the judges, noting that she had "never been kissed." She revealed her dreams of being a singer and compared herself to beloved British musical theater star Elaine Paige.
The entire audience prepared for the worst as she began her song, but, once she starting singing the crowd and judges were transported by her emotional and theatrical take on the number!
The Britains Got Talent's first season was won by a cell phone salesman who sang opera songs, Paul Potts. Potts was also physically unassuming at first blush on the show. It appears Susan Boyle has struck a very similar cord at the start of this season as well. To watch the performance, click here. Speaking exclusively to the UK Mirror, Susan, 48, remarked, "They say that television makes you look fat and it certainly did.
"I looked like a garage. It was mortifying to see and a bit of a shock. I didn't realise I could reduce people to tears and I hope it wasn't because of that." To read her personal recap click here.
