Breaking Glass Pictures and QC Cinema have announced today's February 19th DVD Release of festival favorite OUR PARADISE (released internationally as Notre Paradis, SRP $24.99). The French-language thriller is the latest film from auteur Gaël Morel, following his hit classics Full Speed, Three Dancing Slaves and Apres Lui with Catherine Deneuve. Our Paradise reunites Morel with actors Stéphane Rideau (Wild Reeds, Three Dancing Slaves) and Béatrice Dalle (Betty Blue, New Wave) and debuts rising star Dimitri Durdaine.
Vassili (Rideau), an aging pickpocket and prostitute, finds a young, unconscious man (Durdaine) in a notorious Parisian cruising ground and takes him home to nurse his wounds. The two men discover a burning connection and become lovers and accomplices. They work together as prostitutes and take up the habit of fleecing their clients one by one. But, little by little, the net tightens around them as Vassili's violent past comes back to haunt him. After being threatened with reprisals, the couple must abruptly flee Paris in hope of finding a place where they can be happy and content forever. But can they truly escape their inner demons?
From the producer of David Cronenberg's Cosmopolis starring Robert Pattinson, Our Paradise has been released around the world, with critical accolades from all corners. The film has screened to audience acclaim at QFest, Frameline, Outfest, Toronto Inside Out, and the Melbourne Queer Film Festival.
Breaking Glass Co-President Richard Ross said, ""We are honored to be able to present this amazing film to US audiences. Gaël Morel is an incredible writer/director, and the film is dark and disturbing, yet totally engrossing and unforgettable." Out hailed the film as "Fascinating!" while praise from the UK called it "Dark, sexy and haunting!"
