Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore
Rogue, Kitty Pryde, and Iceman are set to make a heroic return for X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST.
Director Bryan Singer announced yesterday via Twitter that Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, and Shawn Ashmore (who play the above roles, respectively) will be back for the latest X-MEN adventure.
Singer posted: "Very excited to welcome #annapaquin, @ellenpage & @shawnrashmore to #XMen #DaysofFuturePast - thank you @BrettRatner for letting them live!"
The film is set to bring back franchise favorites, including Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellan, as well as James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence,Michael Fassbender and Nicholas Hoult. There have been rumors thatHalle Berry and James Marsden might rejoin the X-MEN as well, but nothing has been announced at this time.
"Every other actor who's ever put on a superhero uniform will be in it," Hugh Jackman recently told The Daily Mail."
And though his statement doesn't confirm Berry or Marsden, it does hint that there are more actors returning than previously thought for the latest adventure.
"There's an element of time travel," he continued. "[And] naturally, it will be action-packed."
X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST will act as something of a sequel to 'First Class'. Days of Future Past is taken from two issues of Marvel Comics' Uncanny X-Men in 1981. The story was set in an alternate future in which surviving mutants were confined to concentration camps, while most of the X-Men had been killed. In order to stop this dismal future from unfolding, the X-Men had to stop a specific event from occurring in the past.
The last installment of the franchise, X-MEN: FIRST CLASS, was set in 1962 when the United States government enlisted the help of Mutants with superhuman abilities to stop a malicious dictator who is determined to start world war III.
