UGLY BETTY is heading back to Manhattan.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, America Ferrera has officially signed on to co-star with her husband Ryan Piers Williams in his upcoming independent film X/Y.
The project, which follows a group of friends as they navigate their daily lives in New York City, also stars Common, Melonie Diaz, Maria Dizzia, Ann Dowd, David Harbour, Dree Hemingway, Jon Paul Philips, and Adam Rapp.
Ferrera and Williams take on the leads, playing Silvia and Mark whose "relationship falters and the effect their struggle has on their inner circle of friends, each of whom are trying to discover themselves within and outside their own relationships."
X/Y began shooting on location today.

Ferrera is perhaps best known for playing the lead role in the television comedy series Ugly Betty. She has also starred in Real Women Have Curves, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, its sequel Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2, and The Dry Land, and had a small role in the skateboard biopic Lords of Dogtown (2005).
In addition, she was the voice of Astrid the Viking in the Dreamworks animated picture How to Train Your Dragon. In December 2005, she appeared in the off-Broadway play Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead, directed by Trip Cullman. She has also appeared in Chicago in the West End.
