Nominees for the 15th Annual Costume Designers Guild Awards, which celebrate excellence in film, television and commercial costume design, were announced this morning. The CDG Awards ceremony is considered to be one of the most prestigious and well-respected entertainment industry events during the awards season, as it celebrates the spirit of collaboration between costume designers and the actors and directors with whom they work. The winners of the seven competitive awards will be revealed at the gala on Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
Continuing their decade-long support of the Guild, LACOSTE is returning for the third year as Presenting Sponsor of the CDG Awards. LACOSTE has been featured in numerous films such as Bridesmaids, This Is 40 and The Vow as well as television shows including Glee, House of Lies, The Newsroom, Pretty Little Liars and Royal Pains.
This year's LACOSTE Spotlight Award will be presented to Oscar-nominated actress, Anne Hathaway. Producer, writer, comedian and creator of Saturday Night Live, Lorne Michaels, will receive the Distinguished Collaborator Award. Honorary Career Achievement Awards will be presented to Costume Designers Judianna Makovsky and Eduardo Castro for their outstanding work in film and television.
"We are looking forward to celebrating the 15th Anniversary of the Costume Designers Guild Awards this year. Since the first CDG Awards in 1999, we have watched the event grow from a small ceremony into a fabulous gala at which some of the most esteemed celebrities, directors and producers in the industry gather to celebrate the talent and arduous work of Costume Designers," said Mary Rose, President of the Costume Designers Guild Local #892.
The Costume Designers Guild was founded in 1953 by a group of 30 motion picture costume designers and was created in response to the changing needs of the movie industry. The Costume Designers Guild promotes the artistry, technical expertise and creative vision of their union members in the field of film and television costume design. Today, its membership consists of over 800 members and includes motion picture, television, and commercial costume designers, assistant costume designers and illustrators throughout the world.
