Kurt Johnstad, writer of 300, has officially been tapped by Warner Brothers to pen the upcoming historical epic, THE LAST LEGION, Deadline has reported. Dan Lin is set to produce.

Set in 53 BC, the film follows a legion of Roman soliders, defeated by the Han Dynasty, who are sold into slavery in what is now Mongolia. A rogue group of Chinese warriors then freed the captured Romans, and together, united to defend China.
As of now, no official start date has been announced for the project.
Johnstad is best known for writing Act of Valor and 300. He also penned the script for the second installment in the historical series, 300: RISE OF AN EMPIRE, set for a theatrical release on August 2.
